After finishing up with college at Montana State University, Ed Sexton headed to Helena with his finance, Donnie, and moved right into construction, signing on with a commercial / development firm, Nicholson, Inc. After a few years and overseeing several commercial developments as a project manager, Ed made the decision to strike out on his own and focus on residential construction. In 1984, Ed and his wife Donnie incorporated their business, and Sexton Group Construction was born. This became a family owned business with the addition of their two sons, Jed and Tanner. Today, the business continues to grow and focuses not only custom homebuilding, but remodels and light commercial. Both sons are involved in the construction business; Jed is a field manager for the company, and Tanner works with a concrete foundation company.
After graduating from MSU in construction technology, Jed returned to Helena and has become an integral part of the business. After a few years in the field with hands on experience in all phases of construction, Jed has taken on the role of field supervisor for the company.
Tanner works for Hard ‘n Heavy Concrete, a firm who subcontracts for the foundation work on our projects. His passion for fishing and hunting consumes his free time.
Lee is an integral part of the firm. Lee and his wife Carol, both Nebraska natives, moved to Helena in 1978. Lee became a Realtor in 1979 and today he continues to market our homes. From start to finish, Lee is our customer care specialist and office manager, working closely with each client to develop manageable timelines, assist with selection of materials/products and provide counsel with project financing. Lee and his wife Carol are proud parents of two daughters Elizabeth and Carlee, and three grandchildren.
We are proud to have a record of retaining employees, some of whom have been with us for over 10 years. We employ experienced, full-time carpenters and laborers that perform a variety of work on each project, from framing and roofing to finish carpentry.
We firmly believe in contributing to Helena’s economy by using local craftsmen and subcontractors, and utilizing Helena vendors for purchase of building materials. We have established solid relationships with many of the area’s architects and engineers, enabling us to help the client utilize the services needed to create the blueprint for their dream home.
